The thought of Maine conjures an image of a rugged, rocky coastline. Some even associate the rugged coast with the rugged individualism of this region.

Acadia National Park, renown for its sculpted coastline, evokes the combined forces of the past and present. The land of Acadia National Park emerged around 15,000 years ago as earth began warming and glaciers retreated north. Today, the pounding waves continually sculpt this land.
