Brooklyn Navy Yard

Takuma Ono with Verdant, 2015

A historic 87,000 square foot building in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard is converted into a manufacturing facility—and the lobby of this facility is transformed into a garden designed for Slowing. The irregular, unpaved ground of this 5,000 square foot garden is comprised of earth, gravel, boulders, and plants. The austerity and minimal palette draws the eye to the path and attention to each step.
